Steps on how to jailbreak iPod Touch 1G

Jailbreak iPod Touch 1g The first thing to do is to create a folder in the desktop which can be named ‘Pwnage’. You need to download a copy of the ‘RedSnow’, and store the file on the newly created folder. The latest firmware of iPod should also be purchased and downloaded from iTunes and should be stored on the same folder. You also need to extract the application from the zip file and send this to the ‘Pwnage’ folder. Once done, you need to connect the iPod Touch to the personal computer and the iTunes should be launched. Select the iPod Touch from the list of devices. Once selected, hold down ‘Shift’ and tap the ‘Restore’ button.

On the ‘Pwnage’ folder, look for the 3.1.3 firmware IPSW, and click ‘Open’. If the iTunes software has finished its updating to the selected firmware, then the redsnw0w.exe from the folder can be launched. Once the application has been opened, just click on ‘Browse’. Find the firmware that was placed on the folder, and this should be opened. Click ‘Next’ if the firmware has already been verified.

Make sure to click on ‘Cydia’

On the next window, make sure that ‘Cydia’ is checked. And if there are no other options to be selected, just click on ‘Next’. You need to plug the iPhone into the computer and the iPod should be turned off. Click on ‘Next’ again. The application will now serve as your guide in order to get into the ‘DFI’ mode. Simultaneously hold the ‘Home’ and the ‘Power’ button for at least 10 seconds.

Release ‘Power’ and press ‘Hold’ until the application detects the iPod. This will allow for the gadget to reboot. This is also the time when the application will upload the new RAM disk. There will be a prompt that will tell you on the status of the process. And when the process is done, you will be notified. This is the time to click on ‘Finish’. You will now that the jail-breaking of the iPod Touch 1G is successful if you can check out the ‘Cydia’ on the Spring Board. And if yes, then that’s your signal to check out sites that offer other apps and programs that can be installed on the iPod that are not available on the iTunes.
