Firmware is the software or Operating system version of your iPod. To jailbreak your iPod you first need to make sure it has firmware version 1.1.1, if you have a new iPod touch it automatically comes with version 1.1.2 so we need to downgrade it. Once it has been downgraded we will jailbreak it and then re-update it to firmware version 1.2.1
1) You first need to get a copy of the iPod Touch firmware version 1.1.1 it can be downloaded from http://www.megaupload.com/?d=B50ALXRR.
2) Once firmware 1.1.1 has been downloaded place it on your desktop. It should be called iPod1,1_1.1.1_2A110a_Restore.ipsw
3) Plug in your iPod Touch then open iTunes and wait for it to recognize it.
4) Go to the iPod source page under the summary tab and hold down the shift key, then press the button saying check for update. A window should pop-up
5) Find the firmware 1.1.1 that you earlier downloaded to your desktop and click open.
6) iTunes will then start to extract and install the 1.1.1 firmware on your iPod. NOTE: your music and videos will not be deleted from your iPod.
