It is always suggested not to keep many different passwords, and if you do please write them down as soon as you create them. I forgot my iPod Touch password just after I created it; this was because I used an extra long password. To avoid this happening to you, try to keep passwords the same or easy enough to remember so you don’t forget them. The inconvenience I experiences after that was extra ordinary and the shame factor was not less either.
Anyway after doing some research, I found a way that I could reset my iPod Touch password. As easy as it may sound, the process need to be followed carefully to avoid any further complications.
How to Reset Your iPod Touch Password
i. First and foremost, you will need to connect your iPod to the computer with a USB cable.
ii. After connection, press both the sleep and menu buttons together at the same moment.
iii. After pressing continually, the restore icon should appear on the screen.
iv. After the restore screen has appeared, let go of both buttons immediately.
v. After button release, a message display saying the iPod recovery mode will appear.
vi. Now press the restore icon in iTunes and restore the iPod Touch.
That’s it! Your iPod will be restored and you can reset a new password now, but make sure not to forget it.
Cons That Happen When You Reset the Password
It is quite apparent after applying this method that you will lost all the saved data and material stored on the iPod Touch. When you restore the gadget, everything except factory settings are erased. For this reason, it is advised that a copy of all data stored on the iPod should be copied on another device like the computer, or CD. With the data safely stored, you can afford to reset your iPod Touch password whenever you forget it. The only inconvenience would be reloading the material.
Sometimes due to continually entering a wrong password, the iPod Touch moves in to recovery mode thus the need to reset iPod Touch password is imminent. In this case, you will need to follow similar instructions as given above. There is no big difference between the recovery mode and restore mode since in both ways, you will lose your data stored on the iPod. Below would be the process to follow:
i. Unplug all extra USB port leaving only the mouse and keyboard connected.
ii. Press the sleep and menu buttons at the same time and press continually till the Apple logo appears.
iii. Afterwards, count to ten and release the sleep button but maintain holding the menu button.
iv. Connect the iPod to the computer and you will be directed to iTunes where you can restore iPod Touch password
Hence as you must have understood by now, forgetting your password could mean losing what you have been gathering for months. Be careful when you reset iPod Touch password so that you don’t forget next time.
