However, a lot of people find this time-consuming and unnecessary. That is until they find that their iPod Touch is locked, and they realized there is no other way than performing a reset.

The reset is only the foolproof way to unlock the iPod Touch if you have forgotten the passcode. Trying various combinations will only result to a red warning that will get longer every time another wrong passcode is provided. With the number permutations reaching to ten thousand, manually trying will take a long time.

The restoration process will be based on the last backup that was made. It is also possible to perform the reset without connecting the device to a computer; but this will restore to the factory settings, without your apps, music, and other files. Plugging and performing the reset process with a different computer will also result in the loss of personal data.

Anyone who has encountered this may naturally result to removing the passcode for their iPod Touches. This works for some, especially if they never let anyone get hold of their device. However, there will always be rascal friends who may end up creating a passcode when one is not looking. The best way is to just remember the passcode. Write it down on a piece or book that can only be known to you. Finally, even though backing up is a long process, do it anyway. The time you may have spent waiting for the device to sync will end up saving you more time in the long run.
