When you find that you have a cracked or scratched screen on your iPod Touch, you know that the only solution is going to be a replacement. It may seem like the world is ending because you control your iPod Touch by being able to Touch the screen. This is a very high-tech interface that allows you to access music, media, or search the internet. Everything is done by the Touch of your finger on the screen. The iPod Touch screen replacement procedure can be handled in just a few steps.
It requires that you have a few handy tools such as:
• You need a screw driver with a flat-head or a plastic pry tool that will enable you to open up your iPod Touch.
• You will need an iPod Touch Screen to use for replacement.
• You need a small Phillips-head screwdriver
Find a solid table or workspace where you can use to work at doing the screen replacement without fear of something getting into your iPod after you have taken it apart.
iPod Touch Screen Replacement Steps
Now that you have the tools laid placed on the work area, you can start to replace your iTouch Screen. The first thing that you are going to need to do is release the back panel from the front. Usually a plastic pry tool comes with your iPod Touch that you can use to do this procedure. If you do not have the plastic pry tool to use to replace the screen of your iPod Touch then the small screwdriver with a flat-head will work. This is the first step in order to replace the iPod Touch screen.
The screen replacement done by you is a lot cheaper than sending it into tech-support. In order to replace it, you will need to remove the square battery. You will find that it is located in the motherboard in the front housing. Just run your pry tool along the sides very gently pulling up the front housing so you can release the battery. There is a piece of black tape from bottom of the front housing that will expose three screws when you remove the tape.
The next step in order to replace the iPod Touch screen is to remove those three screws with your Phillips-head screwdriver. You will have three more screws that are near the top of the battery connector ribbon and those should be removed. Have a small cup handy to place those screws in so that they do not get lost.
iPod Touch Screen Replacement is a Tedious Work
The iPod Touch screen replacement is a slow and tedious process but it can be done with patience. You are now going to remove the metal cover from the bottom of the front housing with the pry tool that you are using. You need to be able to expose the ribbon that connects the screen to the front housing and motherboard. Just flip the screen-connector ribbon up and put out the screen.
You will then need to disconnect the screen-connector ribbon. You have released the board that protects the iPod Touch screen. Release the metal board and pull out the screen. You will now find that there are screws on each side of the LCD screen. You should remove those screws and take out the old LCD screen. You can now put the new iPod Touch screen into the unit. Now, you only need to put the iPod Touch back together again in the same way that you took it apart. You have successfully replaced the iPod Touch screen.
