The process allows the iPod Touch to unlock its potential to run applications and programs that are not under or approved by Apple while retaining its usual functionality.

These programs and software require iTunes, and the assumption is that you already have it installed in your computer.
Using software or programs involves downloading the Jailbreaking software or program, as well as updating the iPod with its latest firmware. Extract the Jailbreaking software after both downloads have finished.
There will be a list of devices that will appear. Choose the iPod from the list, go to the Options and click Restore, and then choose the updated firmware and wait as iTunes updates your device.
Launch the Jailbreaking program and wait for it to prepare. A new window will appear for the settings and options you prefer. Remember to choose Cydia, along with any other options you think will be important.
Connect the device to the computer and turn it off. Put it in DFU mode. This can be done by holding down the Home button and the Power button at the same time until the device turns off. Let go of the Home button after it is recognized, or else the device will go into recovery mode.
