How To Put Skype On Your iPod Touch

It’s not just a music player anymore; with the new Skype for iPod Touch you can convert your iPod into a phone – almost. With the new Skype application you can actually use the iPod to make voice calls and send instant messages. The Wi-Fi connection enables you to access the Apple’s iTunes store, from where you can download this free iPod application via the iTunes or the App store.

Install Skype on iPod Touch

In order to install the Skype app, firstly you will be needing iTunes, an iTunes store account and a WiFi connection to download the app directly into your iTouch.

By clicking on the ‘free app’ icon below the Skype logo, a log-in window opens, where you have to enter your iTunes account log-in information. Clicking on the ‘Get’ tab downloads the Skype for iTouch application into your iTunes library.

Next sync your iPod Touch to your computer and click on the iTouch tab from the devices section of iTunes. Clicking on the ‘Apps’ tab on the iTunes page, all the downloaded apps shall be visible under the ‘sync apps’ window. Check the box next to the ‘Skype’ app and click on ‘apply’ to download Skype to your iPod Touch.

To download Skype for iPod directly into your iTouch: Firstly, connect to the ‘App store’ through your iTouch using the Wi-Fi network. Search for Skype through your App store ‘search box’. Once the search results appear, select the iPod Touch application. Once the main page of the Skype App opens, tap on the ‘free’ icon on the right of the Skype logo. The tab would change to ‘install’. Click on the install tab and enter your iTunes account password. Click on ‘ok’ to download Skype to your iTouch.

Once you have successfully downloaded the Skype iPod application, you would need to be in a Wi-Fi zone and would need a compatible headphone and microphone set to start making calls. You can use your existing Skype account or create a new one to log-in to the application. If you already have a Skype account, all your contacts would be visible on your iTouch.
