The Gameplay
If you’re so much into city-building simulation games, then Trade Nations is worth a try. You will have a variety of buildings and ornaments which you will use for the construction of your village. To create a thriving locale, you will have to generate jobs for the villagers. This means that you’ll have to break the grounds on all kinds of construction projects. But don’t worry.
There are 14 different jobs for your villagers to complete. You can open shops and establish quarries, logging camps and many more. These enable you to trade with other players, and by trading you will gain XP and extra gold. You will basically use 2 currencies for trading, including gold coins and magic beans. Early in the game, you are given 75 coins and 1 magic bean and as the game progresses you will need more of them so you can upgrade the village into a thriving city. Of course, trading is the name of the game otherwise it wouldn’t focus the word “trade” in the title.
User Interface
The interface is laid out well. It’s pleasing to the eyes and indeed easy to use. The controls are also very easy to navigate as the app responds well to touch. Basically, you will be tapping, dragging and dropping items to navigate anything you want. There are push notifications to notify you of something important. Another benefit of playing the game is that you do not have to create an account or sign in every time you want to access the game.
Graphics and Sound Effects
You will be amazed by the fantastic graphics which are supported by bright colors and really smooth animation. If you love medieval-looking structures, then you’re in luck as it is basically much of Trade Nations’ graphics. The cartoonish look keeps it really enchanting, especially for the kids. Meanwhile, the sound of this app contributes a lot to making the game more exciting and enjoyable. You also have the option of listening to your own music while using the app.
The Drawback
Playing Trade Nations for extended periods can really get dull and boring. Just like other computer games, there’s no real incentive to sit there and wait for the villagers complete their tasks. A typical playing session limits you to do one or two actions since you only have very limited resources to construct things up. After which you’ll have to turn the app off and do something else for a few hours. The cycle goes on and on.
The thing is that it drains your battery so much without being too productive if you opt to stay in the game without doing anything. If you want a fast-pacing game, you will have to purchase magic beans with real money. If you don’t mind stuffing your memory with various apps, you can install apps to earn magic beans for free. Also, an internet connection is also required to play this iPhone game.
Conclusion
Trade Nations is a fun game, but it’s really mainly a waiting game unless you’re willing to make an in-app purchase to have the resources needed to fuel the game.
