Since the first generation iPhone came out in 2007-2008, Apple has not stopped tweaking and improving this smartphone. The iPhone has become the quintessential “gadget” today. The iPhone is, foremost, a mobile phone. Technology, has converted this phone into a GPS, MP3, notepad, browser, gaming console and even a flashlight.
The iPhone, if the app is right, could also turn into a portable miniature television. Downloading movies and TV shows is a breeze and does not have to cost a ton as there are ways to download free movies and TV shows for your iPhone.
#1 – TV Station Application
There are several free TV shows that have iPhone apps that afford users to watch full episodes of their favorite movies and TV shows through their iPhones. This is possible as long as there is 3G or Wi-Fi connection available. Most of these TV stations do not offer the full series, but the available backload of episodes is large enough for the user to catch up on missed episodes or special movies.
Open the iTunes store and look for your preferred television channel. There is Cartoon Network, CBS, TBS, TV.com and more under the app section. Cartoon Network will provide clips and videos from Cartoon Network. In the case of TNT.tv you need to login with your satellite or cable provider details to access the shows.
Netflix and Vimeo are two of the most popular app for watching free movies on your iPhone. Netfix app is totally free and affords its regulars to manage their streaming and DVD queues and to stream the shows available online.
#2 – Convert DVDs for iPhone downloads
There is probably a stack or two of DVDs in your house. If the DVDs (or CDs) are antiquated, you can always borrow at the local DVD rental shop. It is possible to watch a DVD movie on your iPhone by converting it into a format the can be played on your iPhone. Once the movie is saved on your computer, open iTunes then add the movie to your personal library.
On the Advanced menu, click on the Create iPhone version. Wait for the conversion to finish for iTunes to create a copy of your movie in its Library. You’ll then notice that two movies with the same title are in the Library. The MPEG-4 video file is the one compatible with the iPhone. Now connect the iPhone to the computer then sync the MPEG-4 video file into it. You need to install a media converter app for you to play the movie file in your iPhone.
#3 – Free Podcasts
Podcasts sometimes features TV shows and media files compiled and created by the author of the podcast. Examples are TLC and Discovery channels. Podcasts are generally watched on a desktop but there are podcasts that are compatible with an iPhone. Search the iTunes store for free Podcast downloads.
