Cut The Rope: How Good Are You at Solving Puzzles?

Being dubbed as the next Angry Birds, Cut the Rope has proven its worthiness as a very entertaining game. The game skilfully combine, simplicity, puzzle solving and physics play to give you everything you are looking for in an entertaining game.

About the Game

Already being called as the #1 Game on the iPhone – IGN 2011, Cut the Rope has already reached 60 million downloads. That number of downloads can already give you an idea of how good this game really is.

The game has 250 levels and 10 level boxes so you won’t be running out of levels to play anytime soon, especially if you’ve just started playing.

The Gameplay

The objective of cutting a rope so the candy falls in to Om Nom’s mouth may sound simple, but there are other aspects in the game that make doing this harder and harder as you reach higher levels.

Om Nom is not the only character in this game that wants the candy. You’ll encounter little spiders, spikes and even empty spaces that threaten to get a hold of the candy if you’re not quick enough.

Cut the Rope-1

The levels get harder and harder to complete and this is why so many people have gotten hooked to this game. On top of the increased difficulty, you also have another objective and that is to collect stars displayed on the screen. This makes the game even more challenging, but enjoyable enough to make it addictive as well.

If you just want to complete a level, then feeding Om Nom his candy will be enough. However, if you really want to pile up those points, you will need to focus on getting the stars as well. If you reach a level that seems to difficult, rest assured that the level is possible to complete.

User Interface

In order to collect stars and get the candy into Om Nom’s mouth before it disappears with one of your enemies, you will need to skilfully, swing, bounce, jump or slide the candy across the room and into his mouth.

At first the user interface is simple because all you need to do to cut the rope is a simple swipe of a finger. However, as the game progresses and you are faced with multiple ropes you will need to learn how to cut the ropes with multitouch action.

Graphics & Sound Effects

The graphics of this is astonishingly so simple yet effective. Playing the game feels like you’re moving a story around in a cartoon movie. The colors are so vibrant, and the animations so smooth, that you can hardly tell if you were playing a game or watching a cartoon.

Cut the Rope-2

The Sound Effects are equally stunning. All of the sound tracks are original and this is one of the reasons why the game is so unique. The concept of the game alone is unique and the rest of the aspects of the game are also unique. The sound track maybe unique, but it is not at all boring. In fact, the sound track adds to the fun and excitement of the game.

The Drawback

It’s hard to find something wrong with a game that is equally as good, maybe even better, than Angry Birds.

Conclusion

This adorable little creature named Om Nom has captivated the hearts of millions of people around the world. Cut the Rope has really shot up to fame and it follows in the footsteps of Angry Birds. The puzzle, physics-based concept of games has really made it big ever since Angry Birds claimed the top spot, and Cut the Rope simply reiterates that this type of gaming concept is still strong.

The game starts off fairly easy, but it does get harder and harder as you progress to higher levels. More obstacles are added and more ropes are added as well. You initially use one finger to slice across the screen and cut the rope, but as you progress, you’ll need to use two or even more fingers to accomplish this task.

The game requires accuracy, quick thinking, and a quick reaction time. The controls are very responsive so you don’t need to worry about them not reacting when you want them to.

Collecting stars adds another level of difficulty to the game, but the more stars you collect and the higher your points are, the more you can brag about your achievements to your friends and family members. Pretty soon, you’ll need to protect these achievements because someone you know will be out to topple them.
