Cover Orange: Get Your Citrus Defense On

Angry Birds was a wildly popular puzzle game for mobile players—it is all about avenging the theft of some bird eggs by a couple of green marauding pigs. However, the Rovio title is all about offense and attacking your opponent. FDG Mobile Games introduces Cover Orange, which features the same addicting qualities of a good puzzle title but with the exact reverse of Angry Birds mechanics.

Instead of having to attack your opponents, you will need to defend oranges from the threat of acid rains. CoverOrangeis a well-rounded iOS game that will provide you with a set of addicting challenges.

About the Game

Developed and distributed by FDG Mobile Games GbR—the team behind popular iOS titles such as Blosics, Blueprint 3D, Beach Bowling 3D, and Across Age—presents this citrusy adventure that will have you hooked for hours upon end. As mentioned earlier, this game will require you to protect a group of oranges from the threat of acid rain. You will have to develop clever strategies that will assure the survival of the fruits. Cover Orange is quite popular among iTunes users, who have given it an average of 5 out of 5 in ratings.

Cover Orange

Gameplay

With Cover Orange, you will have a couple of oranges that you need to protect from the destructive droplets of acid rain. You will use boxes, crates, wedges, barrels, and wheels to build an effective fortress for the oranges. Once you have used the items provided at your disposal, the cloud will loom over the structure and blast acid rain pellets onto your fortress and the ground. If the oranges are unharmed after the torrent of acid rain, you will proceed to the next level. However, if the oranges are exposed to the acid rain, you will see them shaking, shriveling, turning black, and dying.

There are times when the items provided to you at the level will be enough to construct an effective fortress for your oranges. In other levels, you will be given parts of a bigger machine that will block out the acid rain more effectively. You will be given bombs, levers, gears, planks, and other bits that you can experiment and build a contraption with.

The game has six levels, which in turn has twenty stages each. If you find yourself having finished all of these 120 stages, do not worry—there are more to come soon. Unlike other puzzle games, you do not have to complete each stage to move onto the next one, which can come in handy if you cannot figure a way to protect your oranges in a certain stage.

User Interface

Controls are quite intuitive in this title—you only have to spend a couple of quick minutes into the game to learn it. Buttons are placed on the bottom of the screen, which is very accessible yet do not interfere with basic functions of the game.

Graphics and Sound Effects

The colorful graphics of Cover Orange are quite charming—there are plenty of small yet thoughtful details in the environment. Sound effects also contribute to the well-rounded gaming experience that you can get with this particular title.

The Drawback

The puzzles can get pretty challenging at times—and we all know that challenges are not always fun, they can sometimes be frustrating. There are plenty of stages that we had to skip out because we cannot figure how to use the bits and pieces provided at the start of the game. But the developers have allowed players to skip to the next level if the current one is frustrating them.

Conclusion

This title is a great addition to the roster of games in your iOS device, and it is the most fun that you will have with fruits after the Fruit Ninja phenomenon. This strategy puzzle gives you a visual treat while stimulating your brain by providing protection solutions for your cute citrus chums.
