Coin Dozer: A Mobile App Rendition of the Real Life Coin-Pushing Arcade Game

Let’s face it. Not all iPhone free apps are worth your time and effort downloading. Some are just graphically rubbish and yes, boring. Well, guess what? Coin Dozer is an amusing exemption to the norm! If you’ve ever been to a carnival, chances are you’ve already seen the real life inspiration for this  free video game.

Fortunately, you don’t have to spend real quarters to push more money and prizes forward until they tumble off the tray down into your hands. Download Coin Dozer in your iPhone and enjoy a free mobile rendition of the original carnival game!

About the Game

Coin Dozer iPhone

Coin Dozer is developed by Leftover Studios and distributed by Game Circus LLC. This is an arcade-style game designed for iOS 3.0 devices or later. The objective of the game is to get more coins and prices off the tray. Each coin that you drop into the machine will push the coins in the tray forward until they fall off into your waiting hands. To drop a coin, you must tap the empty space at the top of the screen. You will gain nothing if you push the coins off the sides or drop them on top of another, so be very careful where and when to drop your coin off.

The Gameplay

The game can be quite frustrating for a while, especially when it takes you more coins to drop a coin or a price off the gutter. So what happens if you blow all your coins off? The good thing is that you will still accrue a maximum of 40 coins even if you are not playing the game.  While playing, you will be awarded with 1 coin per 30 seconds.

If you keep on playing, you will be given bonus coins from time to time. These coins will be poured down into the tray which will consequently push a lot of coins off the gutter and down to your win tray. Aside from the bonus coins, large items can also fall into the tray, including dice, teddy bears, sparkling gems, hearts, whistles and yo-yos. Collect all colors of each of these items to further unlock new levels and win more prizes.

User Interface

Coin Dozer has a user friendly interface, making it suitable for players of all ages. Once you have started up the iPhone app, there will be instructions about how you could earn extra coins for the game. You will initially have 40 coins. Basically, you will have to tap the upper portion of the screen where you want to drop your penny in hopes that it will push the other coins down off the edge which will become your winnings.

Graphics and Sound Effects

The 3D graphics are quite sharp and impressive and the sound effects reflect the arcade feel of the game. You will be animated by the sounds of slots. Meanwhile, the sound of the coins dropping will really give you a pure delight.

The Drawback

Coin Dozer is definitely a very addicting iPhone and iPod Touch game app. As addicting as it is, running out of coins is truly a frustration that most players have to bear. Unfortunately, waiting for free coins can only limit play time.  If you want a higher start-up asset, you will have to opt for the pro or paid version which will initially give you 75 coins.

The pro version also facilitates full screen play as a result of no banner ads which typically run towards the bottom of the screen in the free version. Some advanced players also complain that there’s nothing else to do once you’ve unlocked all the power ups. But it will take you a while though to get to that stage and perhaps the developer could already update more stages by then.

Conclusion

Timing in dropping the coin is everything when playing Coin Dozer. If you want to occupy your free time, this iPhone app is definitely a silly time-waster. You can also get your kids into Coin Dozer especially during those long drives.
