City Story: Build The City of Your Imaginations

If you could build your perfect city, how would it look like? Of course you know how would look like, but it would be in your imaginations and sharing it with other people would be difficult, unless you could draw like an architect. With City Story for the iPhone and iPad, you can design your perfect city, manage it to make it grow, and show it off to your friends.

If you’ve spent time on Facebook and you had the chance to play the different free games there, then you would probably know of a game very similar to City Story. In reality, City Story is not much different than the Facebook game. The concept is the same; build a city, manage it and make it grow.

However, there is one big difference on how the game is played. In City Story you are forced to socialize with your neighbours. This is the way you can earn more coins to buy more game stuff. In addition, unlike the Facebook game where you are restricted to your neighbours, in City Story you can visit cities of other players even if you don’t know them.

This feature was added by the developers knowing that not everybody will have mobile devices and not everybody who has mobile devices is playing City Story. The list of friends a person can play with can get very limited and so they made it a little easier to find more friends inside the game itself.

The Gameplay

City Story is not at all difficult to play. The objective is simple: Build your city and make it grow. In order to make your city grow, you will first need to build factories that people can work in and start making income for your city.

Once you’ve earned enough money, you can either build buildings, homes and parks, or you can choose to build more factories. The more factories you have, the more people will move into your city for jobs and you will need to build homes for them.

The process goes on and on until pretty soon you’re managing a pretty large city.

This is when your imaginative powers are tested. Do you have enough foresight to plan a city? You will need to if you want to make your city beautiful.

User Interface

Playing the game is pretty easy. All you really need to do is tap on the building you want to build and move it to a location you want. It doesn’t take much to learn how to move items around. In fact, after playing for a little while you’ll be playing like you’ve played the game for months.

Graphics and Sound Effects

This is where City Story is a notch above the Facebook game. The graphics here are excellent and the buildings have designs and colors that are really beautiful. The sound effects are excellent too. Listening to game music can give a relaxing, yet upbeat kind of feeling.

The Drawback

After playing the game for a while, you’ll notice that the choices of buildings are somewhat limited. The game has a lot of buildings, but a lot of them are locked and can only be unlocked when you reach a certain level.

When you really get near to the highest levels, you’ll notice that you will need to pay real cash for most of the buildings. City Cash, the currency used in City Story can be purchased with real cash and this is what you will need to do in order to build more buildings.

Conclusion

City Story is a good game, even when you’re already familiar with the similar Facebook game. It’s fun to design and build your own city, and it can be challenging to manage it by building factories to provide jobs.

Unfortunately, after a while the game has little to offer if you don’t want to pay cash to purchase other buildings. However, you can still play the game and enjoy comparing your city to those of your friends.
