Angry Birds Seasons: Something Special For The Holidays

Angry Birds has become a worldwide hit for mobile app developer Rovio and the franchise has since spawned other special editions such as Angry Birds Rio and Angry Birds Space.

Our favorite raging avians are back again to spread some holiday cheer with Angry Birds Seasons, which takes players through more than 260 levels that span various world holidays such as Halloween and Chinese New Year. For people who cannot get enough of popping pigs, Angry Birds Seasons is the best present they can get for less than a dollar.

About the Game

As mentioned earlier, Angry Birds Seasons is one of the three limited editions of the Angry Birds franchise. This version captures all the addictive gameplay mechanics of the original and takes the player through an adventure celebrating the different holidays and festivals all around the world. Pop yourself some pigs through hundreds of challenging levels and receive regular and free updates from Rovio with Angry Birds Seasons.

Gameplay

The gameplay of this edition is similar to the original version, but if you have never played the original Angry Birds before, you will find that this game is fun, challenging, and perfect for the physics aficionado. A couple of green pigs stole some eggs, and of course, the birds are reasonably angry. You, the player, has to destroy the thieving pigs by shooting birds to the pigs’ barriers using a slingshot contraption. The objective is to eliminate all the pigs before the player runs out of birds in order to complete the level.

In Angry Birds Seasons, there are seasonal bonuses or “presents” that you can hit with a bird in order to get 3,000 extra points. Plus, you will not be required to complete a level in order to proceed to the next. When you are in the advent calendar track, you can play all the levels that are available anytime you want to.

A new feature of the latest version of Angry Birds Seasons is the Cherry Blossom Festival of Japan, which is just the perfect time for an enjoyable picnic with friends and family members. The thieving pigs, however, want to feast on a picnic of eggs and it is up to you to stop their plans through fifteen new levels.

User Interface

The interface of Angry Birds games is very intuitive—keeping the general objective in mind, a player can easily get through the first few levels. Challenges are introduced in a good pace. If you have played Angry Birds before, you will not have a problem with the user interface of the game.

Graphics and Sound Effects

As expected from an Angry Birds title, graphics are very colorful and even cute. The seasonal backgrounds and scenery are very interesting—like in the Japanese Cherry Blossom Festival where you will get to enjoy a view of the majestic Mt. Fuji.

The Drawback

One of the main issues that beginning Angry Birds players have with this limited edition is that the Season’s Greetings track does not start out with an easy level. In this track, you will just get one level per day of play—and the developers at Rovio wants to make you really work your mind and finger for every level. All the levels in this track are comparatively hard, but for many hardcore players, this part of the game’s appeal.

Conclusion

Angry Birds Seasons is a great limited edition title for the hit app franchise, and you get 260 different levels and multiple tracks for just $0.99. There are plenty of new challenges and bonuses that you can get from this edition—and if you are getting quite bored with the original game, Angry Birds Seasons will be a great purchase and worth more than the money you will pay for it.

This title is one of the most popular iPod Touch games of the holiday season and will definitely bring some festive cheer to your iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad.
