One of the most popular BitTorrent clients is uTorrent. This software was created and is distributed by BitTorrent protocol. The beauty of the uTorrent is that it was specifically designed to minimize the use of the PC’s resources while at the same time, offering full features of a traditional client such as BitComet. The client uTorrent is the program that will actually download the media files.
How does one start downloading free music from uTorrent?
Installation and Set Up
Step 1- The first step is the installation and downloading of uTorrent. Download sites have special buttons for different OS such as Windows, MAC and Linux. Choose the proper one. The download should begin in a few seconds.
Step 2- Configure the downloaded uTorrent for it to properly work. It should be on maximized setting based on your PC’s internet speed. Select “Speed Guide” from the uTorrent’s Options Menu. Run a speed test and note the upload speed.
Step 3- Get the result of the speed test and then click the tab Connection Type for a drop down menu of all possible internet speed. If your speed test resulted in 2MB, then highlight that speed.
Step 4- The next step is to choose a number from 49512 to 65535 for the port. This is important because in the event that you have a router, that port will forward from the router to uTorrent for maximized speed in downloading. Test the port that you choose. uTorrent will then test the port and if it’s alright, you will read a prompt saying that you will receive incoming BitTorrent connections through the specified port.
Step 5- You might want to enable encryption if your ISP blocks BitTorrent speed connection. Click “Use Selected Setttings” and you’re done with the setup and installation.
Step 6- On the Options Menu, choose the folder location where you want your download to be.
Downloading Music Using uTorrent
Step 1- Go to a BitTorrent tracker site. A tracker site is the actual site to find torrent files for peer-to-peer sharing. Tracker sites are grouped into categories such as general, movies, software, games, TV shows, anime and music. Since your objective is to download free music, select a tracker site for music.
Step 2- What song would you like to download? Choose the song and click to download. The file should then appear in uTorrent and start downloading. You might want to check out The Pirate Bay or BT Junkie for the music that you wish to download.
Step 3- At your chosen tracker site, search for the name song that you wish to download. Tick the “Audio” option.
Step 4- Your search results should start to appear now. To view which torrent file has the most number of uploaders or “seeds”, sort the torrent results by “Seeds”. Note that the more seeds there are, the faster your download would be.
Step 5- Browse through the titles of the songs then click and view the torrent’s details. If the file is not MP3, search and click another torrent. Read the comments on the torrent info. A negative comment is a warning for you not to download that particular torrent file.
Step 6- Once you’ve found the proper torrent file, click the tab “download this torrent” link. Do not click the ‘Download Now” button as that is usually an advertiser’s link.
Step 7- A message box will appear and prompt you to open the file with uTorrent.
Step 8- Your download should start now. A window enumerating the torrent file name, its size, percentage of download done and status should appear. Wait for the percentage to reach 100%.
Step 9 – Your download is now complete. Right click the torrent file name and choose “Remove And” then click “delete torrent”. This is an important step.
Step 10 – Launch your music using your PC audio player.
Try this the step-by-step method. Your feedback will be highly appreciated.
